The follow up to Potemkin, and just as powerful and equally fascinating, Eisenstein used his "metric montage" theories with a heavy dose of symbolism to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Bolshevik Revolution. He mostly succeeds. The images selected often have little to do with the story, but his "intellectual dynamism" (as Eisenstein called it) is exciting and convincing. Notes: Silent film with original organ score by Rosa Rio. Director: Sergei Eisenstein. Black and white. Color: Russia.
