A sex farce which is at once funny, earthy and politically astute and decidedly original throught. At the center of the film is a slightly chubbyy middle aged woman filmmaker with a confused personal life who is making a TV soap opera titled The Jaws of Life. the soap opera follows a young office clerk, also a little chubby and confused. She is in a seemingly eternal search for the right guy to settle down with. The two stories unfold side by side and eventually begin to converge. In the jaws of life is an amusing mixture of life and art. What makes it so fresh is the film's open approach to sexual problems and mid life crisis. It is a witty satire of urban neurosis.
