"A working-class family in Berlin in the early 1930s can no longer cope with the terrible economic conditions: faced with a cut in unemployment benefits, the son kills himself and, supported only by the salary of the daughter, Anni, the family is evicted from their flat. Anni`s boyfriend finds them lodging at the summerhouse colony "Kuhle Wampe". Anni is pregnant, and her boyfriend would like to persuade her to have an abortion, but a friend talks him out of it. She nonetheless leaves him to live alone in Berlin, but they meet again at a workers' sports festival and decide to resume the relationship. On the way home they listen to a heated political debate between workers and members of the middle-class." Director: Slatan Dudow.
