AvailableDr. Schmidt, a successful, yet professionally frustrated physician from East Germany, hires a team of smugglers to take him across the border into the West. When the time comes for him to leave, he wants instead to stay. His decision is partly influenced by the fact that he has fallen in love and partly motivated by an altered (although not transformed) view of his country. Dr. Schmidt finds, however, that the smugglers insist he flee, which leads him to take desperate action.
