During a pioneer exercise at an officer's school, First Lieutenant Bako dies after detonating a plate mine. The general thinks it was murder and shares his suspicion with Bako's successor, First Lieutenant Krafft. Krafft is not a fervant Nazi (the film takes place during the Second World War) but rather someone who abides by his own moral code. Little by little, he discovers that the training "accident" was a murder carefully planned by three fanatical Nazi officers-to-be who considered Bako to be too "liberal" and therefore a corrosive element. Krafft succeeds in convicting the three murderers with the General's constant support. Then the Gestapo gets involved and backs the murderers. When Krafft's primary witness is picked up by the Gestapo and tortured, he goes after the head of the Gestapo. Notes: Nord 3, 11/14/98. Director: Frank Wisbar. Black&White. Country: West Germany. No Subtitles.
