"It is the summer of 1942 and the Swiss government, alarmed at the exodus of people from Nazi Germany, has set up immigration policies so strict that they render the country ""a full lifeboat."" When a train from Germany halts briefly in an isolated corner of the country and six asylum-seekers jump off (four Jews, a French child, and a German soldier) a conflict is set up for the local people between country and conscience. Posing as a family, the group seeks temporary refuge with a couple who run a village inn, and, though terrified of the consequences, the woman feels compelled to help them -- though her husband does not. Eventually the fabrication unravels through chance and the local constable`s exact investigation. Whom will the Swiss allow to stay? Who gets deported?" Director: Markus Imhoff. Actors: "Ilse Bahrs, Curt Bois, Alice Bruengger, Gerd David, Gertrud Demenga, Tina Engal, Renate Steiniger, Mathias Gnadinger". Color. Country: Switzerland. Subtitled.
