For Friedrich Hoffmann, owner of the Hoffmann chocolate factory, life is all business. Bachelor by conviction, he even interacts with his extended family on business terms. Everything changes, however, when a young woman named Brigitte comes to him claiming to be his granddaughter. Hoffmann remembers the love of his youth, a factory worker whom his parents fired to keep her away from their son, and he begins to discover what it means to have a family.
