"A tour de force about today`s woman seeking independence while locked in the hunger of her yearning. This program shows what happens to the woman abandoned when the man breaks up the affair. (The problem is that the character is not truly seeking independence, but rather has solitude thrust upon her and actually perpetuates her dependence). Over all, a mediocre film that enters an essential aspect of de Beauvoir`s philosophy into an intrigue that is less than engaging. The philosophical writing (Le deuxième sexe, etc) is better than this literary approach, and the book communicates the essential lesson more effectively than the film."
