"Texaco Star Theater": This 60 minute show, built along the lines of an old fashioned vaudeville variety hour, had half a dozen guests; including singers, comedians, ventriloquists, acrobats... you name it... but the star was Milton Berle. He is credited with selling more television sets than all television advertising campaigns combined. People bought the newfangled thing just to see this crazy comedian everybody was talking about; the man known as ""Mr. Television."" Tonight show features Danny Thomas, Fran Warren, Sid Stone and a cast of characters. The $64,000 Question: This show was the king of the big money quiz shows. Each contestant was offered the opportunity to win vast sums of money by answering extremely complex questions about subjects they professed to being experts on. After giving away $750,000 and ten Cadillacs the first year, the show shot up to the Number One rating in all of TV land. In 1958 the bubble burst when it was announced that this show and others were rigged. Tonight show, with host Hal March, featured Wild West Expert Virgil Earp." Black and white. Country: USA. Subject: Classic TV. No subtitles.
