Tape One: "Subway": In front of horrified commuters, a man falls between the cars of a subway train and is pinned between the train and the platform. Was it an accident or was he pushed? Although the man is still alive, it is determined that he will die the moment he is freed. Homicide is called in and Detective Pembleton (André Braugher) questions the victim (Vincent D`Onofrio) while Detective Bayliss (Kyle Secor) questions the witnesses, one of whom may be a killer.
