Hill Street Blues was the first series to combine the style of a serious quality drama with the structure of a soap opera. In this episode, a story that began in a prior season finally draws to a conclusion. While Celestine Gray, the murderer from ""Trial by Fury,"" is about to be executed, Hill Street Station gets a new roll-call sergeant, Furillo experiments with a new relationship, and Renko meets his new baby. In this unusual episode, the seven-year romance of Captain Furillo and Joyce Davenport is told in a series of short flashbacks. While her husband hangs on by a thread after falling to an assassin`s bullet, Joyce reminisces about their first meeting and emotional courtship, and receives unexpected comfort from her adversary, Lt. Norman Buntz. Director: Gregory Hoblit/ Ben Bolt. Actors: Michael Conrad, Daniel J. Travanti, Veronica Hamel . Color. No Subtitles.
