But the most astonishing thing about Pablo Neruda is that his work is genuinely great and yet genuinely popular--popular the world over, in half a hundred translations, with workers and farmers as well as young lovers and doctoral candidates in literature. This videocassette shows us Neruda in his native habitat and on the fierce, rocky shores of Isla Negra, in the flea market of Santiago surrounded by a world of enchanting objects, in the streets of Chile`s capital, on the podium.
