AvailableAfter the death of her father working-class Eva (Baal) finds a new home with the Ortmann family, but the young woman -- despite everything -- does not feel at ease there. In search of the good life, Eva casts an eye on the rich young bachelor Alfred Schott in hopes of luring him in. The film illustrates the dream of wealth in the style of a documentary indicative of its era, and thus (critically) stylizes Eva's "career" as the end-goal of a collective generation of women.
